HYPNOSIS TINNITUS

Hypnosis is increasingly recognized as an effective complementary approach to helping people withtinnitus (persistent ringing or whistling in the ears). Although hypnosis cannot "cure" tinnitus in the strict sense (as its origins are often physical or neurological), it can significantly reduce its impact on quality of life.

  • One of the most powerful effects of hypnosis is its ability to modify sensory perception. In the hypnotic state, the brain becomes more receptive to suggestions aimed at reducing the intensity or perceived presence of interfering sounds.

  • Tinnitus is often aggravated by stress, anxiety or insomnia. Hypnosis, by inducing a state of deep relaxation, acts directly on the autonomic nervous system, reducing :

    • stress associated with tinnitus,

    • auditory hypervigilance,

    • and negative emotional reactions (frustration, anger, panic).

  • With hypnosis, we can train the brain to stop focusing on noise. This is a form of cognitive desensitization. The brain is taught to put the presence of tinnitus into perspective, or even to ignore it.

This is similar to sound therapy or auditory re-education techniques, but via the subconscious.

  • The hypnosis therapeutic approach can also include in-depth work on potential emotional causes:

    • traumatic events,

    • unresolved conflicts,

    • mental overload or exhaustion. This work sometimes helps to release psychosomatic tensions that maintain or amplify tinnitus.

  • Hypnosis is also highly effective in promoting more restful sleep, which is crucial for tinnitus sufferers, especially at night, when the absence of external noise makes it more audible.
