Manual lymphatic drainage or draining massage is a gentle massage technique designed to stimulate lymphatic circulation and detoxify the body while strengthening the immune system.

The main aim of manual lymphatic drainage is to treat edema. But the benefits of draining massage on health, well-being and even the figure are manifold. Find out more about our lymphatic drainage treatments in Lausanne & Geneva.

  • Manual lymphatic drainage or how to naturally stimulate the lymphatic system, the body's cleansing factory. The massage acts on the circulation of lymph, a translucent liquid that flows through vessels throughout the body, carrying toxins, cellular waste and other undesirable elements to the lymph nodes, the true purification and filtration centers.

  • The Vodder method of drainage is performed with the fingers and palms of the hands all over the body, following the direction of lymphatic circulation and varying the pressure, with the aim of stimulating the lymphatic vessels and encouraging them to evacuate more lymphatic fluid.

It is also used as a therapeutic treatment with or without pressure bandages to treat various types of edema. Edema is tissue swelling due to an increase in interstitial fluid (water).

  • Whether practiced for medical or aesthetic purposes, this massage provides multiple benefits for health, well-being and the figure.

    • Treatment of lymphedema: such as that following breast cancer surgery.

    • Water retention: manual lymphatic drainage is effective in combating tissue engorgement.

    • Heavy legs": this type of massage relieves veno-lymphatic insufficiency.

    • Fibromyalgia: lymphatic drainage not only reduces pain in some patients, but also their level of fatigue and anxiety.

    • Cellulite: lymphatic massage can eliminate cellulite by reabsorbing water retention, especially in the case of aqueous cellulite.

    • For slimmer, firmer skin: these massages help prevent tissue congestion. By stimulating the circulation of stagnant fluids and eliminating cellulite, you can gain a few centimetres.

    • During pregnancy, to relieve heavy legs and prevent water retention.

    • To speed up healing, since lymphatic drainage accelerates tissue regeneration.

    • For painful periods due to a sluggish lymphatic system

Lymphatic drainage is particularly indicated for rheumatism, osteoarthritis, edema, infiltrations, circulatory disorders, cellulite, after heavy drug treatments, pre- and post-operative follow-up, constipation, stress, insomnia and well-being.
